Fractint and
Ultimate
Fractint is the definitive fractal generation program. It has pretty much every type of 2D fractal you'll ever come across, and loads of special feature if you can figure out how to use them. Ultimate Fractals is good for beginners and is a quick download. These programs are very good (and free), yet I do not use them all that often because in Fractint's case, it is a bit difficult to use and does not produce especially flashy results, and in Ultimate Fractals' case, it is just a fairly basic program, without the power to go to high magnifications. The fractint images on top were modified using a special custom photoshop action that is designed to enhance boundaries. Fractint output is usually pretty flat and uninspiring. The whirlpool image links to a 1024x768 wallpaper sized image. It is one of my favorite fractals that I have ever found. Too bad I forgot to save the parameter file. (^_^;) |
