Many other interesting patterns besides fractal curves can be created using Irfanview. With the sharpen filter alone, a labyrinthine pattern can be generated in most images. I have a theory that this can be a way of encoding images for infinite zooming. The image "Sand Becomes Pyramids" was one of my first experiments with this phenomenon. I took a flat gray image and added several white single pixel points across it. When the sharpen filter was applied, a pattern grew out from those points. Other patterns can be generated by creating a blur and then sharpening in an iterative manner. |
